The Caves have been a feature of New Zealand tourism since the 1860s. If you have time, you should  visit two caves, the main glow worm cave and the lesser known Aranui cave which is different from the glowworm caves. There is a third cave which has recently been reopened and is different yet again from the other two caves. It is called Ruakuri.  All are well worth seeing if you have time. The temperature inside the caves is a constant 14 degrees Celsius. At left is part of the Aranui cave.
