If you can ( weather permitting ) organise to have breakfast at the cafe beside Lake Matheson. It is about 4 kms down the Cook Flat Rd  It is one of the best places ( if the weather is right ) for a photo, with reflections, of Mounts Cook and Tasman. The walk around the Lake takes about ninety minutes and on a calm day you can get magnificent shots over the water to the mountains.
