One of the picture postcard shots of New Zealand can be taken across Lake Matheson, just a few kilometres doen the Cook Flat Road from the small town of Fox, close to the Fox glacier. If you can ( weather permitting ) organise to have breakfast at the cafe beside Lake Matheson. It is about 4 kms down the Cook Flat Rd    The walk around the Lake takes about ninety minutes and on a calm day you can get magnificent shots over the water to the mountains.
