| We will stop for an hour and a half in this relatively small town, for it has become the centre for craft activities on the West Coast. There are several greenstone ( jade, pounamu ) factories, art and craft and woodcraft shops, and an excellent wildlife life exhibition. It also has a wild but sandy beach which periodically has competitions to see who can create the best diorama from the driftwood and stones. |
