Today
the travelling is quite
substantial. The trip from Queenstown into Milford takes five and a
half hours including stops. Between Te Anau and Milford is the
Eglington valley which you will follow for about 50 kilometres. The mountains tend to close in as you progress up the valley, with the bush covered glacial slopes presenting a magnificent display. The tussock covered lower portion of the Eglington valley on the left. |

Closer towards the Milford sound is a boardwalk over swamp which you can walk along. On the walk is a photo opportunity over a small lake which often is absolutely calm and allows you take a photograph similar to the one on the left. Note it has the bush covered glacial slopes reflected in the water. |
