Senior travel guides Averill and Bill
Averill and Bill Lockhart from senior travel, both have a background in education. Bill was a Deputy Principal in Secondary Schools for over a decade, while Averill worked as an Area Manager in the Polytechnic system.
Since retiring from teaching, both spent a decade recruiting overseas students for New Zealand Secondary Schools and at the same time worked for Eldertreks and Elderhostel touring groups through New Zealand.
More recently they have carried on the touring activities independently, running small tours through New Zealand mainly in the summer months.
Averill's interests include speech and drama and she is a prolific reader and a keen gardener. Twice weekly, she attends a 'move it or lose it' keep fit class.
Bill interests include basketball where he played until his late 50's and was an international basketball referee. He is a computer tutor at Senior Net and has also tutored on the Cunard ship Coronia. Other sports included golf, cricket and rugby and to a lesser extent tennis and fishing.
